The colorful city of Santa Monica is sandwiched between Venice and Malibu along the beautiful coastline of the Pacific Ocean. This lively California destination features over 65 museums and galleries and has been called the city of murals, as they can be found everywhere. Another of the city's claims to fame is as the western end of the famous Route 66 highway. The three major shopping destinations in Santa Monica are centered around Main Street, Montana Avenue and Third Street Promenade, which features Santa Monica Place. All are best explored on foot and lined with eclectic stores and specialty shops, sidewalk cafes and upbeat entertainers performing a musical act or magic show. The Santa Monica Pier is home to the 1920s carousel that was featured in the movie, The Sting. A 22-mile beach bike path also runs along the coast of Santa Monica.
Tourist Attractions

Also known as the The Looff Hippodrome carousel, this historic carousel has been delighting visitors to the pier since it came to this spot in 1939, when the old carousel that had been at the pier since 1909 was retired.
